Abbeygate Manor’s Interior Becomes a Place to Call Home: By Spires Art
When working on Abbeygate Manor, the brief was clear — create a decorative scheme that feels genuinely warm, personal, and uplifting for the people who live there every day.
Care environments present a unique design challenge. It isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about creating surroundings that bring comfort, spark familiar feelings, and contribute to the overall wellbeing of residents. At Spires, we understand that responsibility, and it shapes every decision we make on projects like this.

A Scheme Rooted in Comfort and Character
At Abbeygate Manor, the question we kept coming back to was simple — what does it feel like to live here? The artwork we supplied were each chosen and produced with that question at the centre.
The design direction focused on warmth, familiarity, and a sense of calm. Rather than filling walls for the sake of it, every piece was considered in the context of its space — how it would be experienced by a resident walking past a corridor, sitting in a communal lounge, or waking up in their room each morning.

Bringing the Walls to Life
Bespoke framed artwork was introduced across residents’ rooms, corridors, and communal areas, with imagery selected to evoke familiarity, warmth, and a gentle connection to the world beyond the walls. These pieces add visual interest at every turn, giving residents something to engage with, reflect on, and enjoy as part of their daily surroundings, adding depth and elegance to the spaces they occupy.

From Concept to Completion
With all artwork designed and produced in-house, Spires Art was able to manage complete consistency across every area of Abbeygate Manor. This end-to-end approach allows for refinement at every stage — from colour palette decisions to final frame finishes — ensuring that nothing feels off-the-shelf or out of place.
Working closely with the project team throughout, we ensured that every element aligned with the overall vision, resulting in a cohesive and carefully considered interior that reflects the values of the home.

The Result
The completed interiors at Abbeygate Manor are warm, characterful, and full of life. Residents are surrounded by spaces that feel personal and uplifting — environments where families feel reassured and staff feel proud to work.
Art has a powerful role to play in care settings, and at Abbeygate Manor, every piece has been chosen and crafted with the people who live there firmly at the heart of it.
